Yacht Rock
Every so often when I’m working I think to myself - “you know what would chill me out right now? A Yacht Rock playlist”. But I can never get more than 3 songs in before I start having flashbacks to the dentist’s office as a kid, or feeling carsick in the back of my dad’s Pontiac 6000.
Definitely not getting the ironic smooth 80’s yacht club vibe I signed up...

The only people that don’t care about living their entire lives in public online with no privacy filters are the boring people.
Interesting people always have something to hide. Otherwise, they wouldn’t be interesting…
I am flat-out offended by Google Buzz. To think that Google arrogantly assumes they can dictate the structure of the social web because they can automatically force you to join their own social network and tell you who your friends are is just totally rubbing me the wrong way. No Google, you need to gain my trust over time like every other social network. Screw you.
Foursquare is going to smother itself to death with partnerships and subsequent scale issues, watch.

Driving sucks
I love how making a split second bad decision - to make left turn when you can’t fully see around a truck waving you through in the opposite lane - can completely ruin your life for the next year. Driving sucks. I’m really over it.
Sometimes I forget that I’m still rocking the most ridiculous Tumblr theme ever.
Sigh, I guess it might be time to buckle-down and pick something less AWESOME.
Update: The deed is done. RIP awesome ghettotech theme you will be missed.

So many of the project requests I get these days are things I just simply don’t have the heart to take on. I think I’m partly broke because I can’t bear to take money from people who are plopping their entire life savings on doomed startup web projects.

OK, I was reading this article about the USS New York, a new battleship made with recycled steel from the World Trade Center. One thing stuck out - the ship cost $1.2 BILLION dollars to build.
$1.2 BILLION. According to the CIA World Fact Book the purchase price for that battleship was greater than the GDP of 35 different countries.

WatchOn Sept 13 2001 Eric Venuto and I went up to NYC. It was 2 days after Sept 11th. Eric documented pretty much everything we saw on video and I later edited it for my video class at the time.

I’ve been hatin’ on this site Joost since the day it came out. And today there was a post on Techcrunch about how its pretty much going to be dead.
I just wanted to say that I called it. Not once, but twice.
Normally I would never hate on a startup, but these guys had way too much capital and some celebrity CEOs and it was just annoying and fucked from Day 1.

Animal Collective is a Jam Band
Went to see them last night at the Wiltern. Awesome show, big fan. However I came to the realization that Animal Collective is essentially a jam band.
OK, yea so they use synths / samplers and the two part harmonies etc but the methodology is the same.
